Does anyone have suggestions for a free antivirus software for a windows hp computer? I don’t know a lot about computers in general so I’m looking for something easy but good. Other tips on computer upkeep would be appreciated as well! Thanks :) Hey everyone, is Norton a good antivirus still? And is McAfee good? Basically looking for the best antivirus software for 2021 and thought I’d do a reddit poll to see what you think. Let me know your favorites and why PS I use Windows if that matters at all! I'm pretty good with not getting viruses, but wouldn't mind running full system scans every so often (maybe every 6 months) with actual antivirus software. But I also don't want to have to install a full fledged AV program and put more bloatware on my PC just to run a scan twice a year, or have multiple AV programs conflicting with each other. I like to keep my PC as clean as possible and not install software on it unless I really need to. If VirusTotal had a way of scanning the full system rat...

So I've been using ESET Internet Security for 4 years now. My licence is going to expire in another 7 days so I thought of renewing it. I previously bought the same AV for 3 years license from an online store we have in our country. I've had no problems all these years so I thought I'd do the same this time coz the prices are pretty cheap there. So while looking for the AV, there was a license which can be activated for 3 years which was "Delivered by email" for a pretty good price. I checked t... I just tested positive for covid and am trying to set up my personal laptop to work from home (office is still open). My work requires me to "provide to IT a screenshot of their antivirus software showing that it is enabled, up-to-date and has completed a full-scan with clean results in the last 48 hours". I am having trouble finding a free anti-virus software to give me a full scan.. the one work recommended is not available for chromebooks... any advice? Recently got a new laptop, wouldn't be adverse to paying for AV but I don't think it's particularly necessary, since I've found in the past that free ones still do a decent job. So what do people think? Kaspersky? Norton? Malware Bytes? Sophos? Which free AV software (or combination of softwares) will provide the best protection as we enter into the new year?
Antivirus software consumer reviews. I have always read that traditionally Macs are much more secure than Windows-based computers. Also, Apple bakes protections into the OS. (https://support.apple.com/guide/security/protecting-against-malware-sec469d47bd8/web) So, is additional antivirus software still recommended or even necessary? If so, what do you use or recommend? From what i heard the privacy community doesn't like antivirus software. I personally find privacy and security important; if you're data is hacked it will be sold too etc. That's why i dare to ask how one balances out both things on android and win10. On my pc i use win10, but i plan to eliminate the bad stuff with simplewall, windows ameliorated or something else, which is the reason why i don't know, if using windows security is wise. It's good, but it is surely awful for privacy. F-Secure ...
